to their third crime scene where bullets hit cars. take a look at video we have just after the shooting, just after 1:15 this morning. witnesses say it started as a big fight inside the club. someone fired a gun into the air and people panicked. there was another round of shots and round of screams. it spilled out into the streets and into the parking lot. that is where i'm told 30 rounds were fired. one witnessed told me what it sounded like. >> more than 4 different guns, definitely. there was one smaller boom, boom then there was big boom! then there was about five or six rapid shots that were pretty loud but not as loud as the one big boom blast. then there was a couple of other shots for sure that all sounded differently. >> the shooters escaped after the gun battle in the parking

lot but club management is looking at footage from surveillance cameras. they were trying to find out more information about the shooters. police tell me they have no leads on who the shooters could be but there are three victims. all three men are in the hospital. one in critical condition and the other two have non life-threatening injuries. >> katie: more breaking news. arson investigators are trying to determine the cause of a restaurant fire in san francisco's financial district. firefighters were called out just before 3:00 a.m. to california grill on commercial street. crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames there but one too the fire was hurt and taken to the hospital. in castro valley alameda county sheriff's deputies shot a parolee after he appointed a rifle at them. they shot him in the driveway of his home around 7:30 last night.

he was last reported to be in surgery at eden medical center. the man's family called 911 saying he was acting erratically and then the parolee called 911 and threatened to kill arriving deputies. >> in san jose police continue to look for a killer. the man stabbed a woman to death yesterday afternoon just a few blocks from the santa clara county sheriff's office. john alston has more from north first street. >> brutal stabbing happened in broad daylight in a parking lot next to the togo sandwich shop. matt was eating lunch when he heard a commotion and rushed out to help the woman that was slashed on her neck and arms. >> i held her head up and kept pressure on it. i said who did this? can you give me any name. >> he, too, was covered in blood when paramedics arrived. >> i feel like it was horrible for her to have to die that way.

i hope that my being there maybe it wasn't as bad to die. >> he walked to north second street and had to convince police he was not the killer. police say the real culprit hop add fence and ran through the neighborhood where they found blood in front of some homes. >> detective came by and circled where the blood spots are. we have been told to stay in our house and keep doors and windows locked. police went door to door checking dozens of houses and other possible hiding places but after several hours they scaled back the search. they are trying to figure out what led up to the attack. male suspect approached our female victim. there was some kind of contract, whether they knew each other or what the connection was. during that contract our male suspect stabbed the victim several times. >> the woman that kept inside her house told abc news said

police knew who they were looking for after the killing. >> katie: this morning, san jose police are calling it a domestic murder. they believe the suspect identified as juan ramirez may be trying to escape to mexico and he might be in dark green, 1996 toyota pickup truck. authorities in santa cruz are looking for this man. he is a jail inmate who tricked a guard into releasing him. 35-year-old jesse warren par songs posed as another inmate when he was released from custody yesterday. he had been arrested earlier in the week for several outstanding warrants. if you spotted him, you are asked to call 911. a 27-year-old man from vietnam is in san francisco this weekend hoping to save his little brother's life. he is a rare donor match for the 5-year-old boy who has not seen since he was adopted. sergio quintana brings us their

reunion at sfo. >> colin likely doesn't remember when he saw his big brother but colin with help from his little sister was happy to greet him. he was 14 months old when he was adopted but it's clear from the big smile on his big brother's face he still recollection little colin. 27-year-old lived in the remote community in northern vietnam. this is his first intercontinental flight and first time in the united states. he is a one in a million match as a donor for little colin who suffered from aplastic apeople in yeah. -- anemia. >> its chance for better life. >> his adoptive parents kept in contact with his birth family in vietnam but when the five-year-old was diagnosed they were lucky big brother was

perfect match. at the airport. she shared pictures of his two-year-old son. >> that is his nephew. that is your nephew. >> in the process of making arrangements to come to the u.s. to be a donor. they learned that his two-year-old was suffering from an infection and needed a $600 operation. the mcfaddens were all too happy to help. >> he went to back to school. >> todd will be here for a month. the process for little colin will be much more involved and take a few months. >> they live in carson city, nevada so they will be in the bay area for a few months as he goes through the transplanted procedure at children's hospital in oakland. >> katie: donating bone marrow is not as intrusive as it used to be.

that the vatican is downplaying the meeting of the two popes. it's the first time in 600 years that two popes have met. two embraced on the helipad and prayed together in the chapel. they say benedict and francis shared the traditional melar with francis telling benedict we are brothers. benedict offered his pledge of obedience to the new pope and then they moved to the library and have lunch together. people on the east coast are buzzing over a possible meteor shower that lit up the sky last night. this bright flash was seen streaking along the eastern seaboard. people from new england to florida saw it. look at this video, watch to the left side of your screen. a spokesman with the american meteor society says the flash is consistent with a meteor shower. they fielded calls, hundreds every hour. some people who saw the show.

temperatures on the cool side. numbers in the 40s. we'll run through a few 40s in santa rosa. 39 in napa. with 48 in fairfield. mid 40s for livermore and hayward. you bumped up considerably. 6 degrees since the last hour. 45 in los gatos. this view shows that the coast is certainly clear, but we will have those breezy winds again. 49 san francisco, 46 in san carlos, 48 in half moon bay and 39 right now in santa cruz. spots around the bay will be chilly the next couple of hours. as we get into the afternoon that northwest wind, 15-20 miles an hour. keeping us cool at our beaches but otherwise we are sunny and mild for the rest of the weekend with rain chances are still in the 7 day outlook but been pushed back to the midday time frame. this morning with the clear sky, north wind, the lower dew points has allowed for much cooler temperatures.

as much as 7 degrees colder in napa this morning. airport coming in 3 degrees cooler and san jose, as well. we will be warmer today order in san jose by a couple of degrees. high pressure sits offshore continues to build into california, it keeps the storm track to the north. it allow forces the north-northwest winds and that will bring seasonal numbers around the bay. we will be dry into part of next week. then as this high begins to weaken and slide to the east we will see lows drop down from the north. so the rest of the day today, featuring that breeze along the coast. plenty of sunshine and elsewhere. a few high clouds from time to time. we will be looking at a pretty nice first weekend of spring. 74 los angeles with 61 in yosemite. upper 40s in the northern sierra. some folks off this week and some folks off next week but today featuring beautiful

temperatures with 72 in los gatos. 66 in menlo park. upper 50s from pacifica to half moon bay. san francisco about where you should be. low 50s and 68 in sonoma. out over the hills, we will see 67 in union city and san leandro and 70 in concord. maybe a couple degrees warmer. few high clouds monday and tuesday dropping the numbers a few degrees but by wednesday and thursday, more significant cloud cover with the chance of showers each and every day. best chance comes at the end of the next week. and we'll see occasional high clouds from time to time but overnight tonight, numbers will be tumbling and cool and chilly. we do have added cloud cover and few drops of rain in the week ahead. i'll have the sean seven-day outlook in just a moment. >> we want to get back to the breaking news we brought you, top of the hour. kiera is live where three people were shot. >> reporter: the latest they are processing the third of three crime scenes, just minutes ago they took down the crime scene tape down around brannon street. shooting was at this club at 330 rich. it spilled into the alleyway and into the street and then spilled over a shootout in this parking lot behind me. that is where investigators are now diagramming where bullets fell. take a look at video just after

1:15 this morning after the shooting. witnesses say it started inside 330 rich. there was a gunshot and then everyone tried to leave the club. we're not sure if we are showing that you video right now but after the initial gunshots people heard more gunshots. they all tried to leave the club. one witness told me when he saw it spill into the parking lot behind me there were 30 rounds fired. i asked him what he thought of shooting like that. >> i could sense the tension inside. people were -- there were people bumping into each other. any little thing like that could start a difference in opinion. someone may step on the shoe and take it the wrong way. anything can escalate really quickly. >> reporter: the shooters got away. san francisco police say they have no leads, but again three people are in the hospital, one

in critical condition. two are expected to be just fine. >> katie: happening now, santa clara county is holding a second gun buy-back event. it starts in just a few minutes. last one recently netted more than 1100 firearms. it will be held until noon at reid hill airport on cunningham avenue. authorities will pay up to $100 for each handgun, shotgun and rifle, and $200 for assault weapons. no questions asked. >> president obama is closing out his four day trip in jordan. he boarded air force one earlier this morning headed for petra. it strengthens bonds with israel but left some palestinians angry. they say president obama is playing favorites and need to more strongly condemn the settlements on palestinian land.

in his address he focused on domestic issue calling on congress to vote on three gun control measures that would ban high capacity ammunition magazines, fund school security and crackdown on gun trafficking. >> these shouldn't be controversial. they are common sense. they are supported by a majority of the american people. i urge the senate and the house to give each of them a vote. >> katie: also new this morning, it was just a few hours ago that the senate passed its first budget in four years approving a $3.7 billion spending plan for next year. the 50-49 vote ended a grueling all night debate. no republicans voted for the package. this sets up contentious negotiations with the republican dominated house in april to reconcile what are two plans in dealing with the deficit. senate version called kaults for spending $100 billion on

infrastructure. house version calls for deep cuts in domestic spending to balance the budget by 2023. >> the california department of education is expanding it's list of recommended reading for kindergarten through 12th grade. that includes newly published works dealing with sexual identity issues. here is nannette miranda in sacramento. as summer nears, educators want to keep kids reading. california department of education up updated the list of books that is to prepare students for college, klutd for the first time are winners of the stone wall book award that recognizes gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender literature. >> it's good to teach kids that everyone is different and we can all be accepted who we are. i think it's great to see those

books recommended. >> the books are recommended according to age from young kids activity books celebrating gay rights leader harvey milk to books like older kids like transgender teens and totally joe a boy coming out. >> there is a full sexual war. >> social conservatives are appalled. they say such topics have no place on the state's official reading list. >> they are not being taught critical thinking. they are being taught social engineering that will hurt them physically and emotionally. >> the new book titles are recommended and not mandatory and the state insists they will not chosen for their lgbt themes. >> it's mostly based on the quality. literature. it could be fiction and

biography and poetry. >> i've seen some of the books and it doesn't make a big deal. he was a guy that was for everyone. >> and newly published works on immigration, including a book that talks about the reason why people come to the u.s. illegally. >> katie: police are asking for the public's help to find a man that assaulted a woman last sunday afternoon on a park trail. investigators have released a sketch of the man they say grabbed a woman on one of the trails at hans park. this he came up behind her and tried to drag her into a nearby creek bed. she fought back and managed to escape. they have revised the description. he is 5'4" and weigh about 210 pound. they said he was 5'10". he was last seen driving two-door acura with gray primer on the rear bumperer.

bringing us the warmest days of the next seven today and tomorrow. rain in the forecast, has been pushed back but as we go into the up coming workweek, we'll see cloudy, cooler conditions and onshore flow returning in the morning. with the absence of wind, look how much cooler it is in the north bay. 3-7 degrees cooler and 2-3 degrees cooler from the east bay to south bay. we will be looking at high pressure not only in command today but it is building in the eastern pacific. as it buildings bimdz in we're not looking for the cloud cover and warming the atmosphere enough today to bring the temperatures up anywhere from two to four degrees. as it continues to slide to the east it will weaken and allow for few weak systems to flirt with the north and that brings the changes. not until the middle of the week. the rest of the day.
